Astral travel: Can you really leave your body?

“I’m astro bursting out of my body right now - I’m so excited to talk about this!” That’s how our chat kicked off… right after the world’s most satisfying champagne pop. Between giggles, nerves about flying corks, and a very pretty brut rosé, we settled into a topic that had been teasing us for ages: astral travel.
What is astral travel?
Astral travel (or astral projection) is the idea that your consciousness can leave your physical body, wander elsewhere - sometimes to places you know, sometimes to wild new realms - and then return.

One of us leans spiritual (“If we’re spiritual beings having a human experience, why couldn’t we step out for a bit?”) and one of us leans sceptical (“I believe in meditation, 110%, but I don’t think you can actually leave your body and go to the sun.”). Cue the back-and-forth.
The Netflix twist that sparked it
Our deep dive was sparked by Behind Her Eyes - famous for its jaw-drop twist! We warned everyone: spoiler alert. The show treats astral projection like a plot weapon, and we couldn’t help asking: does any of that line up with real life, or is it just TV magic?
Science vs. spirituality (and a little sass)
“There is no scientific evidence,” we read aloud, to which came the cheeky reply: “Oh, science. Science again.” We talked about how meditation can create powerful states - “I’ve gone so deep I’ve ‘floated’ and ‘come back in’” and whether that’s an inner mindscape or something more. The sceptic’s take: “It’s your mind creating a world you actually think you’ve been to.” The believer’s counter: “Everything is the mind, and maybe the spirit, too.”
Stories that made us go “wait, what?”
From Reddit came the most bonkers tales: flying through stars, visiting loved ones, even… ahem… “astral sex.” One line that stuck with us: “I flew through the sun in a second and back to the ground.” Another swore a being handed them lottery numbers (and yes, they didn’t use them - painful!). We laughed, we side-eyed, and we kept reading.
The vibe behind the mics
Bud Burst’s vintage brut rosé (gorgeous blush, surprisingly gentle bubbles) got a shoutout while we debated. “Why is that so good?” “It’s bubbly without being… attacking.” Between pours and pop-fizz commentary - “That’s a good strong pop!” - we circled back to the big question: is astral travel a doorway to something real, or an incredible feat of imagination?
Where we landed
We agree on this much: meditation can unlock profound experiences. One of us would try astral travel “if someone could guarantee I’d come back,” and the other says, “Just fly - don’t bother climbing walls like Spider-Man.” In the end, we’re inviting you to sit with the same questions we did: Could you really leave your body? And if you could… would you?
