Happy 2019, Readers!

We all know I’m not a huge fan of Christmas, but did you know that I LOVE New Years Eve and Day?

When I was a kid, we celebrated NYE, so this is the exciting part of the year for me. Something about waking up and having the year tick over, it’s just so satisfying.

Meanwhile, I hate that it’s 2019, generally speaking, the number nine always has me feeling on edge. So I might be a bit edgy this year!

My poor Husband!

And as far as resolutions go, I have some ideas about what I’ll be working towards this year, but I can’t help but feel that resolutions are, well… outdated?

Are New Year’s Resolutions Outdated?

Honestly, does anyone do New Year’s Resolutions anymore?

Can I tell you a secret?

It’s actually really hard to even start a new years resolution in January!

I think New Year’s resolutions are a big, fat, bag of bullshit. Maybe I had them once, but then I realised that the “new year, new you” thing is just crap.

Maybe it’s because I understand that if I was really to make a change in my life, I would do it any freaking time, December 29th or August 12th. It doesn’t really matter what the date is.

It’s actually really hard to even start a new years resolution in January!

Everything is closed, everyone is on holidays, you get all excited and sign up for a course that doesn’t start for another two months, by which time you’ve changed your mind anyway.

So, what’s to be expected of 2019?

As every new year goes, it always feels like you can start over fresh but personally, I’ll be continuing building on this new little career I’ve chosen for myself.

I’ve cracked open some doors and I’m looking forward to kicking them all the way down this year.

I return to my government job at the end of January as well and between you and me, I’m hoping for a chance to get into the communications and media team so I can do some more professional writing.

(Anyone at my work who has any kind of influence, hook a sista up!)

Growing my weeds

My children! I mean, my children. But they certainly do grow like weeds.

I look forward to seeing my kiddies grow. I will have a one year old and a three year old! I will go from having babies to having toddlers. I look forward to walking, talking kids who can make their own breakfast (too soon?)

I can’t wait to see them discover new things and learn more about the world. I look forward to growing with them as a parent.

And I also look forward to not breaking either of my children this year and saving money in medical bills. Woot!

A Special message to the Husband.

You guys – this isn’t just the first day of the year – all together now:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUSBAND!

Yep, that’s right, the Husband’s birthday is on the 1st of January!

Today he is a year older, a year wiser, much better looking than his 33 year old self, and I couldn’t be prouder of him and happier for me that I bagged myself such a stud.

Happy birthday, my love. You rock!

So on that little note, I bid you adieu and wish you the best of the first few days of 2019.

Enjoy making your resolutions so you can realise in March that you haven’t thought of them since the second of January.

Enjoy your friends and family and loved ones; appreciate the holidays and this Tuesday that is the beginning of 2019!

And tell me – what are you hoping for the end of the current decade?

Peace to the world – B.
